Hoppie Vaughan is from South Carolina and grew up playing the club circuit in the Southeastern US. After moving from Columbia, SC to Huntsville, AL to Augusta, GA playing in various groups, he landed in Nashville where he developed his skills as a songwriter and performer. While there he also did session work as a bass player and demo singer for Nashville songwriters, publishers, and producers. Hoppie appeared on the TV show “Star Search” in 1988.

Hoppie has performed or appeared with such artists as Delbert McClinton, Rod Price of Foghat, Mac Gayden, Tommy Two Tone, Jimmy Hall/Wet Willie, Ronnie Milsap, Wayne Perkins, Tommy Castro, Tab Benoit, and John Mayall. Hoppie found his way to Roanoke, VA in the mid-1990s and played with Kerry Hurley and the Fat Daddy Band before forming the Ministers of Soul. Hoppie was voted Best Musician in Roanoke City Magazine in both 2012 & 2013.
